Halloween Flowers That Are Anything But Creepy

The decorating possibilities in October are second to none. Not only is it time to signal, through decor items, that autumn is here, but there's Halloween to pay homage to as well. Making our homes and work places as beguiling as possible is about as fun as it gets--you can be whimsical and imaginative, taking a sinister approach or keeping to a more lighthearted one. If you're more inclined to a polished style, Kittelberger Florist & Gifts has a great design for an elegant and modern Halloween table. We're thinking the dining one--let the kitchen table have its pumpkins, skulls and ghosties. Read More about Halloween Flowers That Are Anything But Creepy »

Show Your Appreciation This Bosses Day

Kittelberger Florist & Gifts is here with a PSA (thank us later). October 16 is National Bosses Day, so designated in the 1960s after a plucky employee wanted an official occasion to honor her boss, who also happened to be her dad. Cut to today, when we're called upon to acknowledge the efforts of our guides and mentors, those leaders who spend their workday keeping the team on task and together. Offering this pivotal person in our lives a little something special does a lot to create good work karma. Read More about Show Your Appreciation This Bosses Day »

Entertain Them With A Flower-Filled Salad

Kittelberger Florist wants to give you a taste of what's to come this season, in the form of flowers you decorate your space with or gift to someone else, and in the form of flowers you eat. Yes, you heard us right. The culinary world is rich with recipes that involve edible flowers, and they truly run the gamut, from petal-filled popsicles to bright garden salads sprinkled with blooms. Entrees, soups, desserts and cocktails are all getting the floral treatment as chefs, mixologists and enterprising foodies see what taste they can tease out of fresh, edible flowers. Random Acts Of Flowers

Kittelberger Florist & Gifts is always looking for ways to get flowers into the hands of as many people as possible, that's why we do what we do. And usually, that's enough to satisfy our desire to see people exchanging bouquets of roses or gifting their loved ones, co-workers, friends and themselves with that gorgeous orchid or a fresh bunch of tulips. Other times, however, we just want to get out and do something about it. And last November, we did. Read More about Random Acts Of Flowers »

How Flowers Become Traditions

As a family-run business now in its third and fourth generations, Kittelberger Florist has a strong appreciation for tradition. September 9 is Grandparents Day, and one of the best ways to honor our cherished elders is to maintain the customs and rituals they passed down to us. Flower work is filled with gift exchange traditions, and flowers are great way to connect our youngest generations with our oldest ones. Read More about How Flowers Become Traditions »

Freshen Up End Of Summer With This White Bouquet

One of the best ways to celebrate Labor Day is the way in which it was intended---as a day of rest. In the late 19th century, it became clear that the American worker's efforts deserved some recognition, and ultimately, the first Monday in September was adopted nationally as the time to give it. It has since evolved into the long weekend that, along with Memorial Day, bookends the summer. As such, it's been used as an opportunity to dictate fashion choices (that "no white after Labor Day" rule is the brainchild of wealthy New York socialites), as well as an opportunity to gather with friends and family for pool parties and barbecues. It's our opinion here at Kittelberger Florist that no matter how you spend September 3, that you maintain a sense of tradition and let this be a day of rest and relaxation. Fresh From The Field Flowers

Kittelberger Florist & Gifts can't say enough about bees. They are, in fact, the bees knees, these industrious little workers. Responsible for pollinating 1/3 of the food we eat (scientists estimate that one in every three bites comes from a bee-pollinated plant), bees are maybe the most essential creature on the planet. Without them, we wouldn't have apples and avocados, cherries and coffee, oranges, pumpkins, flax . . . the list goes on. And of course, we wouldn't have flowers. The Right Room For Those Blooms

Kittelberger Florist & Gifts spends a lot of time thinking about flowers, naturally, and we're here to tell you, they can do a lot more for a room than just make it look good. The trick is matching a floral design to the room it's best suited for. To do that, take a step back from marveling at your gorgeous new blooms and ask some serious questions about where they should live. Such as? Well, begin by assessing the scale of the design. Tall flowers like gladiolus provide a lot of drama and color given their stack-upon- stack of blooms. Place them in a tall foyer or on an accent table in a living room. Been graced with an orchid? Let it live next to the tub in the bathroom (and near a window) where it will love the occasional subtropical temps. Read More about The Right Room For Those Blooms »
