Favorite Flowers

At Kittleberger Florist, serving Webster and the surrounding areas, flowers are always in style and in season because we believe in the year-round appeal of flowers. They’re not only fragrant and beautiful but also have some pretty amazing health benefits people can enjoy just by spending time around flowers. They have the power to lower stress, boost your mood, and improve your memory. Flowers have also been shown to accelerate the recovery of those who are sick, injured, or recovering from surgery.

With so many wonderful benefits, why wait for the next holiday or special occasion? There’s no reason why you shouldn’t order flowers today.

What Are the Most Popular Flowers?

Popular flowers are usually so well-loved thanks to their rare beauty, wonderful fragrance, or important symbolic meaning. Flower popularity also depends on where and when you live. For example, camellias and lotus flowers are widely used in East Asia, but less popular in other parts of the world. There was also a time when tulips were highly prized and valuable. They comprised most of Holland’s economy and could actually be used as currency. Although tulips are still springtime favorites, it’s unlikely you’ll find anyone who’s willing to pay thousands for a single tulip bulb today.

As florists, it’s tough to choose only five favorite flowers because we love them all, but we narrowed it down to a few of the blooms we love and use the most!

1. Peonies

Peonies are truly stunning. Originally, they bloomed in white and various shades of pink. Hybrid versions, however, offer corals, mahogany, deep purple, and bright yellow. These fluffy flowers are not only beautiful, they also have really wonderful symbolic meaning, as they represent bashfulness and compassion, in addition to a happy life, happy marriage, good health, and prosperity.

2. Hydrangea

Snowball-like clusters of small flowers comprise hydrangea blooms. These beauties are available in white and green, in addition to all shades of pink, periwinkle, lavender, blue, and purple. Hydrangea represents feeling gratitude at being understood, which makes them the perfect flowers to give to a confidant or close friend.

3. Calla Lilies

Our favorite type of lily, the calla lily’s name comes from the Greek word for beauty. It blooms in white, cream, yellow, pink, and deep shades of purple. Most often, calla lilies represent purity, holiness, and faithfulness.

4. Roses

Roses are a classic favorite thanks to their timeless beauty and sweet fragrance. They bloom in so many colors and are so well-loved that each type of rose has acquired its own unique symbolic meaning. You probably already equate red roses with romance, but did you know orange roses represent passion and pink roses symbolize admiration?

5. Orchids

Orchids bloom in nearly endless varieties and are one of the most exotic flower choices. We love them for their diversity and delicate beauty. Orchids are a perfect gift for any special woman, as they symbolize glorious femininity, mature charm, refinement, thoughtfulness, and exotic beauty.

What Your Favorite Flower Says About You

Flowers have their own symbolic meanings. Some people also believe that a person’s favorite flower can reveal something about their personality. For example, those who prefer violets are said to be witty, yet reserved. Tulip lovers are said to value their families about everything else. If you love lilacs, then probably also have a yen for nostalgia. If you prefer peonies, you’re likely sweet and caring, and those who love daisies have adventurous spirits.

How Do I Order Flowers for Someone?

When ordering flowers for someone, it’s important to think about your relationship with the recipient, the type of occasion, and what you want the flowers to say. We recommend only ordering red roses for a romantic relationship or event. It’s also a good idea to reserve all-white arrangements for somber occasions, as these typically represent sympathy and remembrance. If you’re not sure what’s appropriate, you really can’t go wrong with a bouquet of mixed colors and flowers.
