One of the best ways to celebrate Labor Day is the way in which it was intended---as a day of rest. In the late 19th century, it became clear that the American worker's efforts deserved some recognition, and ultimately, the first Monday in September was adopted nationally as the time to give it. It has since evolved into the long weekend that, along with Memorial Day, bookends the summer. As such, it's been used as an opportunity to dictate fashion choices (that "no white after Labor Day" rule is the brainchild of wealthy New York socialites), as well as an opportunity to gather with friends and family for pool parties and barbecues. It's our opinion here at Kittelberger Florist that no matter how you spend September 3, that you maintain a sense of tradition and let this be a day of rest and relaxation. Kittelberger Florist & Gifts can't say enough about bees. They are, in fact, the bees knees, these industrious little workers. Responsible for pollinating 1/3 of the food we eat (scientists estimate that one in every three bites comes from a bee-pollinated plant), bees are maybe the most essential creature on the planet. Without them, we wouldn't have apples and avocados, cherries and coffee, oranges, pumpkins, flax . . . the list goes on. And of course, we wouldn't have flowers. Kittelberger Florist & Gifts spends a lot of time thinking about flowers, naturally, and we're here to tell you, they can do a lot more for a room than just make it look good.
The trick is matching a floral design to the room it's best suited for. To do that, take a step back from marveling at your gorgeous new blooms and ask some serious questions about where they should live. Such as? Well, begin by assessing the scale of the design. Tall flowers like gladiolus provide a lot of drama and color given their stack-upon- stack of blooms. Place them in a tall foyer or on an accent table in a living room. Been graced with an orchid? Let it live next to the tub in the bathroom (and near a window) where it will love the occasional subtropical temps. Read More about The Right Room For Those Blooms »

There are few things more American than the Fourth of July, and if they are more American, we probably include them in our Independence Day celebrations. It's a day devoted to classic American pastimes like grilling out on the lake or tossing the football around in the backyard. Even our fare is deeply traditional, the menu sure to include such delights as hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, cole slaw and cherry pie. We're with friends and family, feeling the relaxed vibes of summer, anticipating the fireworks display that will cap off the long, easy afternoon. Kittelberger Florist loves all of the tradition---and the majesty---of Independence Day. But we also think the flowers we use to decorate our homes (or to give to our hostess) can be a little more independent themselves. Read More about Independence Day’s Awesome Flower Show »

June is a lot of things---the month that brings us summer, a peak time for flowers and the number one most popular month for flowers in the U.S. Of course, these things are all related: the climate brings blue skies and sunshine to much of the country, in the same way that it rewards the flowers. It makes total sense that so many couples would want to take the plunge in June, given how dreamy the landscape is. Kittelberger Florist & Gifts provides the flowers for many weddings this time of year, and we have gorgeous anniversary flowers on hand, too. Read More about June’s Awesome Anniversary Flowers »
